Observations from the European Space Agency’s Cheops space telescope, or Characterising ExOplanet Satellite, detected a “glory effect” on WASP-76b, an ultra-hot exoplanet 637 light-years from Earth. Cheops captured data from WASP-76b as the planet passed in front of its star, making 23 observations over three years. But the glory effect is created as light moves through a narrow opening and bends, creating colorful, patterned rings. The U.S. Department of Agriculture pegs total U.S. corn supplies in 2023-24 to rise 10% on the year, while soybean inventory is seen shrinking 3%. U.S. corn versus soybean supply: Year-on-yearThe 2007-08 rise in corn and fall in soybean supplies was policy-driven, and the only other recent, directionally similar year was 2003-04, when the U.S. soybean crop fell victim to rare, widespread pest issues as well as dry weather. SLB said it expects to add about $5 billion in revenue in 2023, compared with its previous estimate to increase revenue by 15%, which worked out to a $4.2 billion growth. It also expects to grow earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) by $1.5 billion this year. It had previously forecast adjusted EBITDA percentage growth in the mid-20s, which at its midpoint translated to $1.6 billion. "Directionally, we see the potential to repeat this by adding similar revenue and EBITDA dollar growth in 2024," Le Peuch said at a Barclays energy conference. International core revenue is projected to exceed $23 billion in 2023, representing growth in the high teens, Le Peuch added.
